Life Cycle Assessment under Uncertainty: A Scoping Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Today, life cycle assessment (LCA) is the most widely used approach to model and calculate environmental impacts of products processes. The results LCAs are often said be deterministic, even though real-life applications uncertain vague. uncertainty, which may simply ignored, one key factors influencing reliability LCA outcomes. Numerous sources uncertainty in classified various ways, such as parameter choices, spatial variability, temporal variability between objects, etc. Through a scoping review, present study aims identify assess frequency with studies reflect what tools cope map knowledge gaps field reveal challenges opportunities have robust model. There four dominant methodologies: CML, ReCiPe, IMPACT 2002+, TRACI. commonly software databases SimaPro® Ecoinvent®, respectively.

Life Cycle Assessment of Pavements under a Changing Climate
Each of pavements’ life cycle phases such as material extraction, transportation, construction, operation, rehabilitation, and end-of-life emits greenhouse gases. Such emissions can be influenced by climate change via changes in the rates of pavement deterioration and thus intensity and frequency of maintenance and rehabilitation. However, climate change has not been given full considerations i...
متن کاملReview Transport biofuels – a life-cycle assessment approach
Life-cycle studies of the currently dominant transport biofuels (bioethanol made from starch or sugar and biodiesel made from vegetable oil) show that solar energy conversion efficiency is relatively poor if compared with solar cells and that such biofuels tend to do worse than conventional fossil transport fuels as to the emission of eutrophying and acidifying substances. Lifecycle studies of ...
متن کاملLife cycle assessment of aquaculture systems—a review of methodologies
PURPOSE As capture fishery production has reached its limits and global demand for aquatic products is still increasing, aquaculture has become the world's fastest growing animal production sector. In attempts to evaluate the environmental consequences of this rapid expansion, life cycle assessment (LCA) has become a frequently used method. The present review of current peer-reviewed literature...
متن کاملFood Polymeric Packaging Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
Food packaging is used to maintain the safety and quality of food during distribution and storage and to protect them from adverse internal and external conditions, such as water vapor, spoilage due to microorganisms, moisture, light, and dust. In this regard, lots of research studies have been done to increase shelf life, safety, and quality to create suitable physico...
متن کاملMultiscale Life-Cycle Assessment
A streamlined life-cycle assessment (SLCA) is typically performed at the scale of the completed product. One could also, however, perform SLCAs on components or subsystems (moving down in scale) or on all a corporation’s products (moving up in scale). By analogy with biological ecology, it seems likely that analyses at different scales would ask different questions and reveal different insights...
